Description
Day 1: Quito – Napo Cultural Center Take a 30-minute flight from Quito to Coca. Transfer to a private dock, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing drink while your luggage is taken directly to the lodge. Travel by motorized canoe for two hours along the majestic Napo River to reach the Napo Cultural Center. Be greeted by the Kichwa Añangu Community with a traditional wayusa drink. Settle into your jungle-view room. In the afternoon, choose between a hike to a 40-meter observation tower —perfect for spotting birds and monkeys in their natural habitat and enjoying an Amazonian sunset— or a peaceful kayak ride on the river. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge. Day 2: Kichwa Culture After breakfast, depart by canoe to one of the mineral clay areas, where parrots and parakeets naturally gather to feed. Continue with a walk along the Parakeet Trail and visit the Kury Muyu Interpretation Center, managed by women of the community, where you will learn about their culture, music, dances, and handicrafts. After lunch and a short rest, enjoy a canoe trip along Añangu Creek, home to monkeys, caimans, and, with luck, giant otters —always observed respectfully and without disturbing their behavior. In the evening, take part in an ancestral catamaran ride while listening to Kichwa legends and songs, accompanied by traditional snacks prepared by the mamakunas. Day 3: Primary Forest and Observation Tower After breakfast, visit the community’s sustainability projects and take a walk through the terra firme forest, surrounded by giant ceiba trees, lianas, and an impressive variety of flora and fauna. After lunch, climb a second observation tower, 36 meters high, an ideal spot to admire birds and monkeys in complete freedom. Dinner will feature traditional Amazonian dishes such as maito. For adventurous travelers, optional cultural tastings will also be available. End the day with a guided night walk to discover the biodiversity of insects, amphibians, and nocturnal mammals in their natural environment. Day 4: Wayusada Ritual and Return to Quito Before dawn, take part in the traditional wayusada, an ancestral ritual of drinking wayusa, accompanied by songs and stories of the community, where you may even hear interpretations of dreams. Return to the lodge for breakfast while the staff prepares your luggage. Travel back by canoe to Coca and take your flight back to Quito.Includes
