Begin your thrilling Cotopaxi Full Day Tour in Quito, where our friendly guide will pick you up from your hotel in the metropolitan area. From here, we'll head along the famous 'Avenue of the Volcanoes' on the Pan-American Highway, heading towards the majestic Cotopaxi National Park. Our first stop will leave you breathless: the Quito Viewpoint, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Ecuadorian capital, Quito. As we venture into Cotopaxi National Park, we'll pass through a charming pine forest that surrounds our path before reaching the San Agustín paramo, where beautiful water reservoirs, including the picturesque Limpiopungo lagoon, form. The next destination is the 'La Mariscal' Interpretation Center, located at an altitude of 3600 meters above sea level. Here, you'll immerse yourself in the diversity of Ecuador's four regions: Sierra, Costa, Amazon, and the Galapagos Islands. You'll also explore photographs and information about the flora and fauna of Cotopaxi National Park and learn about the fascinating history of Cotopaxi volcano eruptions. After a short 40-minute journey, you'll arrive at the Cotopaxi volcano's parking lot, situated at 4600 meters above sea level, where our exciting one-hour hike to the José Rivas Cotopaxi Refuge will begin. During this ascent, you'll witness breathtaking panoramic views of the 'Avenue of the Volcanoes,' including Corazón, Rumiñahui, Sincholagua, Cotacachi, Antisana, Cayambe, and the Illinizas reserve, where Quilotoa lagoon adds its beauty to the landscape. Once we reach the José Rivas Cotopaxi Refuge, you'll have time to take spectacular photographs, enjoy the surrounding scenery, and even build a friendly snowman if you wish. Inside the refuge, you can savor delicious food and beverages, such as comforting coca tea or hot chocolate, as well as typical dishes like tasty potato locro served in the restaurant. For the more adventurous, the Cotopaxi Tour offers the option of an exciting bike excursion from the parking lot to Limpiopungo Lagoon, a 40-minute mountain bike ride. We'll explore the 6-kilometer trail that surrounds the lagoon on a approximately one and a half-hour walk, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the flora and fauna of Cotopaxi National Park. After this exciting day, a delicious lunch awaits before saying goodbye to Cotopaxi volcano and its snowy cloak.
