Accompanied nighttime herping in the Choco ecoregion of Ecuador may reveal the blunthead tree snake (Imantodes cenchoa), Central American boa (Boa imperator), terciopelo (Bothrops asper), northern eyelash-boa (Tropidophis boulengeri), and Despax's ground snake (Atractus paucidens), among other snakes, along with rare frogs such as the Orejuela's glassfrog (Sachatamia orejuela) and treasured gems such as the Imbabura tree frog (Boana picturata) and gliding leaf frog (Agalychnis spurrelli), among other frogs, including various rain frogs (Pristimantis spp.). Local lizards of interest may include blotchbelly anole (Anolis maculiventris), purlple anole (Anolis purpurescens), Bocourt's dwarf iguana (Enyalioides heterolepis), and rough teiid (Echinosaura horrida), among others. Salamanders and caecilians may be found too! The following morning, casual birding may reveal highlights, such as Rufous-tailed Jacamar among 100s of other possible species, and, if you are lucky, mammal sightings may include pumas!Includes
