Description

Embark on a full-day trip to the Chimborazo Volcano, the highest point in Ecuador. Enjoy a guided hike to the first and second benchmarks, and see the native crops, sheep flocks, vicuñas, and traditional straw and adobe cottages. Depart from Baños at 8:30 AM and drive in private transportation for around three hours. After registering at the first station, go to the first benchmark, which is located at an elevation of 4800 meters above sea level. Acclimate to this altitude before continuing the hike to the second base, which is 5041 meters above sea level. There's a lagoon a quick 10-minute walk from the second stop on the hike, and it's just next to the glaciers. Eat lunch following the roughly 40-minute descent. Finally, get back into the car and go back to Baños town.
