DescriptionStart with pickup from your hotel in Quito and travel along the 'Avenue of the Volcanoes' which contains seven peaks measuring more than 17,000 feet high. Register at the Caspi control point to enter the park. Once inside the first visit the Mariscal Sucre interpretation center, where your guide will discuss the various aspects of the park in terms of its history, nature, and geology. Venture up to the Limpiopungo Lagoon, one of the most popular locations in the park. With its reflection of the Cotopaxi volcano on its tranquil waters, this is a great place to take some photos. Continue with our tour you reach the parking lot near 4550 meters above sea level. Hike to the Father José Rivas refuge that is at an altitude of 4864 meters above sea level. Here observe the spot where groups start the ascent to the summit of the Cotopaxi Volcano. If you wish, you can walk around the shelter until you reach the snow and if you are lucky, catch a glimpse of a paramo wolf. After some time to explore this area, return to Quito.
