Embark on an unforgettable six-day journey through Ecuador, where you'll explore the captivating history, rich culture, and breathtaking natural landscapes of the country. Starting in the capital city of Quito, this tour immerses you in the beauty of the Andes and the traditions of its people, offering unique experiences at every turn. Day 1: Discovering Quito Your adventure begins in Quito's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy panoramic views from Panecillo Hill and ride the cable car to 15,600 feet above sea level for stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains. After a delightful day of exploration, you'll visit the Inti Nan Museum at the Middle of the World, where you can participate in fascinating experiments and even step on the equatorial line. Day 2: Otavalo Market and Cotacachi Today, journey to the renowned Otavalo Indian Market, one of South America's largest artisan markets. Spend time browsing beautifully crafted items such as blankets, sweaters, and wall hangings made from llama and alpaca wool. Explore the vibrant fruit and vegetable market and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the picturesque town of Otavalo. The tour continues to Cotacachi, celebrated for its exquisite leather goods, where you can shop for handcrafted leather items. Day 3: Peguche Waterfall - Ibarra Train After breakfast, visit Peguche Waterfall and then head to Ibarra to taste the famous helado de paila. Enjoy the scenic Ibarra Train ride to Andrade Marín Station and explore the historic Imbabura Textile Factory. In the afternoon, visit Ilumán, land of the shamans, with the optional limpia (spiritual cleansing), before returning to your hotel. Please note: The train operates only Wednesday to Sunday. If your tour falls on Monday or Tuesday, enjoy kayaking at Lake San Pablo in the morning, Peguche Waterfall in the afternoon, and Ilumán before returning. Day 4: El Ángel Ecological Reserve Venture through the Northern Andes to the entrance of the El Ángel Ecological Reserve. After a short drive, arrive at Polylepis Ecolodge, where the friendly staff will welcome you. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing to the altitude and take in the stunning natural surroundings before enjoying a hearty dinner. Day 5: Hiking the Polylepis Forest Begin your day with a 3-hour hike through breathtaking landscapes filled with Frailejónes, unique endemic plants of the Andes. The stunning scenery will captivate you as you explore the reserve. After the hike, return to the lodge for a satisfying lunch and some well-deserved rest. In the afternoon, you can choose to relax or enjoy a short walk in and around the enchanting Polylepis Forest. Day 6: Return to Quito On your final day, begin the journey back to Quito, stopping at a charming town known as the 'Biscuit Town.' Here, you can sample delicious local biscuits and immerse yourself in the regional culture. At the end of the day, you have the option to be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight.
