Description

Begin your adventure with a pickup from Quito and head south along the Pan-American Highway. Enter the Valley of the Nine Volcanoes, where, on a clear day, you can admire the area's majestic volcanoes and sacred peaks: Pasochoa, Rumiñahui, Sincholagua, Cotopaxi, the Ilinizas, Corazón, La Viudita, Ninahuilca, and Atacazo. Upon arriving at Cotopaxi National Park, approach the northern face of the volcano. Cross a volcanic valley at 3,800 meters above sea level before ascending to the Cotopaxi Volcano’s slopes, where you reach the refuge parking lot (4,500 masl). Start your hike to the José Rivas Refuge at 4,864 masl (approximately 2 hours up and back). After the hike, begin an exhilarating bike descent to Limpiopungo Lagoon in the volcanic valley. Enjoy the convenience of 4x4 transportation, a knowledgeable guide, and entrance to Cotopaxi National Park. • Pick up from two meeting points in Quito: Plaza Foch at 6am and Plaza de San Blas at 6:15am The hike to the José Rivas Refuge is approximately 2 hours up and back. Bicycles are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes and Rock Shox suspension.
