Description

Begin your adventure at the pier of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, where you will board a small yacht and navigate along the eastern coast of San Cristóbal. As the boat sails, enjoy stunning views of the iconic León Dormido (Kicker Rock), watching how its shape changes depending on your angle. Make your first stop at Cerro Brujo, an impressive formation of volcanic tuff shaped by thousands of years of erosion. Its white-sand beach, turquoise waters, and incredible views make it one of the most picturesque places in the Galápagos. It is also one of the best viewpoints for observing León Dormido in all its majesty. Continue your journey toward Punta Pitt Islet, an area filled with seabirds soaring above the cliffs—petrels, boobies, frigatebirds, and more. Enjoy a snorkeling session in clear, calm waters, where you may spot colorful fish, rays, and playful sea lions. Next, land on Punta Pitt Beach via a wet landing. Remove your shoes and walk onto the shore, where the guided 2-hour hike begins. The trail is rugged, rocky, and natural—not a constructed path—so sturdy walking shoes are essential. The climb offers spectacular landscapes, impressive cliffs, and a unique perspective of the island’s volcanic past. Along the trail, see Blue-footed Boobies resting or guarding their chicks. Maintain a respectful distance of 2–3 meters. Spot Red-footed Boobies perched on branches and cliffs, some with brown plumage and others completely white. Binoculars are recommended. Watch Nazca Boobies glide above the cliffs, easily recognizable by their black facial mask and dark wings. Frigatebirds nest in bushes nearby, with males showing bright red pouches and females displaying white heads and chests. Punta Pitt is the only place in the Galápagos where you can observe all three booby species together. Back on the beach, encounter sea lions relaxing on the sand before boarding the boat again for your return to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.
