Your adventure starts early in Puerto Ayora with check-in for the ferry to Isabela. After about 2 hours of sailing, you'll arrive in Puerto Villamil, where your guided experience on one of the most extraordinary islands in the archipelago will begin. Visit the Arnaldo Tupiza Giant Tortoise Breeding Center and learn about the programs dedicated to the breeding and conservation of Isabela's giant tortoises. During the tour, you'll also have the chance to explore wetlands and lagoons where, depending on the natural conditions, you may spot flamingos and other bird species. Then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before embarking on one of the most anticipated parts of the day: the visit to Tintoreras Islet. Cruise by boat around Puerto Villamil Bay while looking for Galápagos penguins, blue-footed boobies, sea turtles, sea lions, and marine iguanas. Disembark for a guided walk among volcanic lava formations and to see the famous Tintoreras Channel, where whitetip reef sharks often rest. Then swap the hike for an underwater experience. Snorkel with your guide, with mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, and flotation gear included. Depending on the day's conditions, you may encounter sea turtles, rays, fish, sea lions, whitetip sharks, and even penguins. At the end, you'll return to Puerto Villamil to catch the ferry back to Santa Cruz after having enjoyed Isabela by land and sea in a single day. What makes this experience different? • The excursion starts early in Puerto Ayora and lasts approximately a full day. The crossing between Santa Cruz and Isabela takes about 2 hours each way and is made on a shared ferry; the activities on Isabela are conducted in small groups. Bring an ID document or passport, sunscreen, hat, swimsuit, comfortable clothing, and suitable walking shoes. Full snorkeling gear is included: mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, and flotation gear. The water taxis needed during the itinerary on Isabela are included in the price of the activity. Bring cash for the municipal entrance fee to Isabela of $10 per person. Penguins, flamingos, sea turtles, sharks, and other wildlife live in their natural habitat, so specific sightings cannot be guaranteed.
