Description
Cotopaxi National Park is home to one of the world's most active and iconic volcanoes. On this day excursion from Quito, you'll discover the stunning landscapes of the Ecuadorian Andes while exploring one of Ecuador's most visited natural destinations.
Your adventure begins with transport from Quito to Cotopaxi National Park. During the tour, you'll enjoy spectacular views of the volcanoes, vast moorlands, and a great diversity of flora and fauna typical of the Andean region.
Once inside the park, we'll head to the parking lot located approximately 4,500 meters above sea level, from where we'll begin a hike to the Jose Ribas shelter, located 4,864 meters above sea level. During the ascent, you'll feel the thrill of walking on the slopes of the majestic Cotopaxi Volcano while enjoying incredible panoramic views and the high-mountain surroundings.
After visiting the refuge and having time to rest and take pictures, we'll continue exploring the park with a visit to the Limpiopungo Lagoon, one of the most iconic places in the Cotopaxi National Park. Here you'll take a leisurely walk along its trails, surrounded by unique landscapes where, weather permitting, you'll be able to see the volcano reflected in the waters of the lagoon. This place is also ideal for observing Andean birds and learning about the Paramo ecosystem.
Throughout the tour, your tour guide will share information about the geological history of the volcano, the importance of Cotopaxi National Park for observing Andean ecosystems, and the species of flora and fauna that inhabit this protected area.

No previous trekking experience is required; however, due to the altitude, a decent level of fitness is recommended. Our team will lead the tour at a comfortable pace, allowing for breaks to rest, hydrate, and enjoy the scenery.
