Description
Baños de Agua Santa is named for its thermal waters, valued for healing properties and spiritual ties to the Virgin of the Rosary (Virgen del Rosario). Descend from Quito through volcanic rock tunnels into a subtropical valley with humid climate and vibrant vegetation near Tungurahua Volcano.
Stop 1: Pailón del Diablo Waterfall is one of South America’s most powerful waterfalls, plunging 80 meters in three drops fed by the Río Verde and flowing into the Río Pastaza. The rock formations resemble a devil’s face, and local legend associates the falls with ancient underworld myths. The site is surrounded by cloud forest and volcanic stone.
Stop 2: The Swing at the End of the World and Casa del Árbol (Tree House) viewpoint provide panoramic views of the Baños valley and Tungurahua Volcano. The swing hangs over the valley’s edge, creating a memorable experience and photo opportunity.
