Experience an immersive two-hour cooking class in Quito’s Historic Center, ideal for food enthusiasts, vegetarians, and travelers interested in Ecuadorian cuisine.
Description
Discover Ecuador’s most iconic flavors in a colonial setting while learning to make ceviche, one of the country’s most beloved dishes. This hands-on experience blends a professional master class with local gastronomy and cultural traditions.
Upon arrival, receive a refreshing cocktail and meet your professional chef and bilingual guide. After an introduction to Ecuadorian cuisine, you’ll be provided with an apron, chef’s cap, recipe materials, and all necessary cooking tools.
During the class, explore the history, ingredients, and techniques behind Ecuadorian ceviche. Sample freshly prepared plantain and cassava chips as the chef shares cooking tips and cultural insights.
Prepare authentic Ecuadorian shrimp ceviche and learn about variations such as white fish ceviche inspired by Jipijapa and vegetarian versions using hearts of palm or lupin beans (chochos).
After cooking, enjoy a tasting of two different ceviche dishes served with traditional garnishes and a refreshing soft drink. The experience concludes with a printed recipe collection and an official certificate of participation.
