Description
Depart Quito at approximately 8:00 AM in a private car with your guide. Travel toward Mindo Valley, one of Ecuador’s most frequented natural areas, attracting nearly 200,000 visitors annually.
Mindo offers a range of outdoor activities including rafting, tubing, trekking, mountain biking, canyoning, horseback riding, bird watching, and herping. Much of this area is privately protected, with 86 square kilometers within the Mindo-Nambillo Ecological Reserve.
The valley sits on the western slopes of the Andes and represents an ecological transition zone between the Chocoan lowlands and the Tropical Andes. The preserve covers 268 square kilometers, ranging from 960 to 3,440 meters above sea level. It is irrigated by the Mindo, Saloya, and Cinto rivers, featuring a patchwork of cloud forests, secondary forests, farmland, and settlements.
