Description
Isla de la Plata is part of Machalilla National Park, south of Manabi. It hosts diverse marine and bird species, including blue-footed boobies, red-footed boobies, masked boobies, frigate birds, and albatrosses. Visitors observe these species in their natural habitats, guided by expert local tour guides.
From June to October, the Ecuadorian coast becomes a migration route for humpback whales. The tour includes visits to prime whale watching areas, accompanied by research biologists who provide educational commentary. Hydrophone listening is available on select tours to hear whale songs.
The snorkeling experience allows exploration of clear turquoise waters rich with tropical fish, sea turtles, and vibrant coral. Occasionally, sightings of giant manta rays, whale sharks, and sunfish occur.
The tour includes a box lunch with fresh fruit, cold sandwiches, banana cake, and drinks like cola and juice. Water is provided throughout the day. Entrance fees to Machalilla National Park and dock tickets are included.
