Itinerary
Day 1: Starting at 8:00 AM, visit Basilica del Voto Nacional, a neogothic church in Quito’s historic center. Continue to Plaza Grande, the political and historical core of Ecuador, featuring the Independence Monument at 2,818 meters above sea level.
Next, tour Iglesia de la Compañía to see its gold leaf-covered interior. Then explore San Francisco Plaza with its historic church and colonial fountain. Proceed to the Panecillo hill at 3,000 meters for panoramic city views.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before visiting Mitad del Mundo to experience the Equator line and the interactive Intiñan Museum, showcasing indigenous history and solar effects. In the afternoon, travel to Papallacta for overnight accommodation.
Day 2: After breakfast, hike the Sendero La Isla trail through the cloud forest to observe orchids and birds. Spend time relaxing in the volcanic hot springs with optional spa treatments. Lunch at a recommended local restaurant is followed by return to Quito.
