Description

Your guide will pick you up at 9:00 a.m. from your hotel in Quito for a northwest drive to the Intiñan Museum. This site is located at precisely 0 degrees latitude, marking the division between the northern and southern hemispheres as determined by the 18th-century French Geodesic Mission. You will explore exhibits on Ecuador’s diverse ethnic groups and learn about their traditional lifestyles, guided by a specialist.

At the museum, you can be photographed with one foot in each hemisphere simultaneously. Next, visit the Mitad del Mundo complex in Quito’s San Antonio parish. Here, explore the Ethnographic Museum, showcasing indigenous Ecuadorian cultures, and view the 30-meter monument built between 1979 and 1982 marking the equator line based on Ecuador’s geodetic datum of that period.

Afterwards, visit a local organic farm to discover crops like coffee, bananas, tangerines, lemons, and oranges. While walking through the farm, photograph around 20 species of hummingbirds, six species of tanagers, two quetzal species, toucans, flower piercers, and other birds from close range.

The tour concludes with a craft beer tasting at a nearby brewery. You will return to your accommodation by approximately 4:00 p.m.
