Description

Day 1 – Quito to the Amazon via Papallacta Leave Quito in the morning and travel southeast through changing Andean landscapes toward the Amazon. Visit Papallacta hot springs, where you’ll have time to enjoy the scenery and relax in natural thermal pools with healing properties. These are natural hot springs. Continue to your Amazon lodge and enjoy lunch with local and regional ingredients. Spend the afternoon at leisure, relaxing at the lodge. After dinner, join a short guided night walk to experience the jungle after dark. Overnight at the lodge. Enjoy a full day surrounded by rainforest, rivers, and local traditions. Day 2 – Amazon wildlife and Kichwa culture Continue to Caiman Island and Lagoon, where you’ll learn about Kichwa traditions, including traditional clothing and the preparation of chicha de yuca. Take a short hike to Caiman Lagoon. Continue to a nearby community for a typical local lunch, then return to the lodge. Dinner and overnight. Day 3 – Amazon to Baños Enjoy breakfast and free time at the lodge to relax by the pool. Lunch at the lodge restaurant. Afterwards, travel toward Baños de Agua Santa, enjoying panoramic views as the landscape changes from rainforest to the Andes. In Baños, visit the famous Tree House, known for its swing overlooking the valley and mountains. Continue to the Pacha Mama Hands Viewpoint, where giant hands extend over the landscape. Dinner is not included. Overnight in Baños. Day 4 – Waterfalls and the Ilinizas area After breakfast, follow the scenic waterfall route along the Pastaza River. See Agoyán, Manto de la Novia, and Pailón del Diablo, and descend toward the Pailón del Diablo area for impressive views of the waterfall. Cross the Pastaza River by cable car near Manto de la Novia. You can also choose the optional canopy over the river, subject to availability and additional cost. Visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Holy Water in Baños, a Gothic-style church built largely from volcanic stone. Lunch not included. Continue to the Ilinizas Reserve area and your accommodation will be in Quilotoa . Dinner and overnight are included. Day 5 – Quilotoa and Cotopaxi to Quito After breakfast, travel to Quilotoa. Walk down toward the emerald-green crater lagoon or choose to hike along the crater rim. Continue to Cotopaxi National Park for lunch near the Visitor Center. Visit the center to learn about the volcano, local flora, fauna, and surrounding ecosystem. Finish at Limpiopungo Lagoon, at about 3,896 meters above sea level, where you may spot Andean birds, other high-altitude wildlife and if the weather permits, observe the majestic volcano.. Return by road to Quito, where the tour ends. The tour starts in Quito and ends in Quito. Safely. Accommodation, meals, and activities are included as specified in the itinerary.
