Las Palmeras Inn
Ecuador
This 150 year-old hacienda tucked in a lush mountain valley with eternal spring weather (day 65-75 F/17-21 C, night 55-60 F/11-14 C), less than two hours north of Quito, has towering palm trees and garden cottages with thick adobe walls and roaring log fires. Its ever-blooming perennial garden with hibiscus, bougainvillea, and others, attracts an abundance of birds including hummingbirds and vermillion fly-catchers. The sometimes snow-capped Cotacachi and the sacred Imbabura watch over it. The day's warmth preserved by the thick adobe walls plus roaring eucalyptus log fires give warmth to the rooms for the cool mountain nights.
The bustling indigenous market of Otavalo is only a brief downhill walk from Las Palmeras.
The inn has a restaurant which also makes a perfect stop for lunch, dinner or afternoon tea for visitors to Otavalo's market.
Games room, gardens, free wi-fi in the main house.
Sister property Hacienda Cusin offers horseback riding (with a discount for Las Palmeras' guests)
Weddings: 2 - 60 guests (up to 200 guests at Hacienda Cusin)
