Description

The tour includes pre-trip pickup and return hotel drop-off in Quito. From Quito we will leave in the morning and travel to the city of Cayambe where we can stop to try the typical chocolate and cake of the town and then approach the entrance of the Cayambe-Coca nature reserve and along a 4x4 road reach the Ruales shelter. -Oleas-Berge. Along the way you can see vast nature and a biome above 4000 meters, with fauna and flora characteristic of the Andes, paramo, springs, polylepis and fauna. From here you walk for about 2 hours to have views of the entire volcano, the beautiful glacier and the yellow lagoon. The walk ends at the entrance to the glacier and then returns to the car. Cayambe is one of the closest mountains to the Amazon, so the glaciers on this active volcano are very large with ice peaks that reach 30 meters. This experience is for the most adventurous travelers.
