Visit to Quitsato Sundial
Located in the Cayambe canton, named after the snow-capped volcano in the area. This cultural site, built to measure solstices and equinoxes in pre-Hispanic times, is also considered the “other half of the world” as the equatorial line crosses through this place and the middle of the summit of the Cayambe volcano.
Visit to the “bizcochos” factory in Cayambe
To experience Ecuadorian cuisine, we'll make a stop for a cup of Ecuadorian coffee or chocolate, accompanied by 'bizcochos,' which are small bread-like treats baked in an oven with an unparalleled flavor. The best part is that we'll learn about their production process.
Stop at MiraLago viewpoint
The viewpoint offers stunning landscapes of the region's natural beauty, including the picturesque San Pablo Lake and the lush mountains of the area. It's a perfect spot for taking photographs, and admiring the scenery.
Visit to Plaza de Ponchos local market
Our next stop is Otavalo, located in the Imbabura province known as the Province of the Lakes. Once there, we'll visit the largest and most important indigenous textile handicraft market in South America.
Visit Cuicocha Lagoon
Cuicocha Lagoon is located within the Cotacachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve, which is a protected area and national park in Ecuador. Upon arrival, we'll hike to the viewpoint to take photographs of this volcanic crater lake.
