Zoológico El Pantanal
Ecuador
The main purpose of this zoo is to breed wild animals in captivity. Although it does house many common animals, such as zebras and flamingoes, many residents here are in serious danger of becoming extinct in the wild. Once one of these endangered animals gives birth, it is released back into the wild with its offspring, boosting the numbers of this endangered species. Here you will get to see a variety of fascinating animals, and expert guides are on hand to answer any questions.
Some of the exotic animals you can expect to see at the zoo include Guayaquil squirrels, coatis, kinkajous, red-mantles, capybaras, jaguars, llamas, lions, raccoon crabs and monkeys. There is also a splendid selection of reptiles here, including boa constrictors, crocodiles, caimans and giant turtles. And some of the birds you can expect to see include eagles, vultures, herons, macaws, parrots, owls, guans, peacocks, parakeets and toucans.
There's plenty to see here at Guayaquil zoo, with a great example of some of the most exotic species to be found locally. Not only do you get to observe some amazing animals, by visiting the zoo you are also supporting their preservation. Entry to the zoo costs $6 for adults, $3 for children, students and seniors.
