Hosteria Hacienda Pinsaqui

This traditional, quality hotel with a historical background, located at the base of the Imbabura volcano and 5 km away from the famous Otavalo craft market, offers its guests a unique experience. The building was a colonial hacienda built in 1790, originally used as a textile plant, employing at one time 1000 local weavers and spinners making fabrics that were exported to the USA. Pinsaqui has kept its character and traditions through the centuries. Many important figures have lodged at the hotel, including Simon Bolivar, South America's liberator, who used to stay there when he traveled between Ecuador and Colombia.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has huge windows giving onto the landscape beyond. It offers three meals a day, from light meals like soups and sandwiches, to complete dishes including fish, meat, and pastas and a selection of vegetarian dishes.
