Description
Tour Ecuador on a 6-day trip through the highlands. Spend time in the capital city of Quito and its historical center. Meet the locals and enjoy traveling through beautiful landscapes, past majestic mountains, inviting lakes, and towering volcanoes. Detailed Itinerary Day 1: Arrival Upon arriving in Quito, you will be transferred to your hotel. Day 2: Otavalo Market (Meals: B) Depart from Quito through the Pan-American North Highway via Cayambe, and make a brief stop at old equatorial monument Guachalá. Taste the delicious “Bizcochos de Cayambe”, a type of cracker or bread baked in a clay oven (greatly paired with local cheese or caramel sauce). Continue on to Otavalo to the Otavaleños' market, which hosts a variety of different handcrafted items. Stay longer in Otavalo or go to visit to the leather shops at Cotacachi before returning to Quito via the Cajas-Tabacundo road. Day 3: Quito Tour & Equatorial Monument (Meals: B) Tour the city of Quito along a panoramic route that travels through the banking and financial areas, shopping malls, and La Mariscal neighborhood, where most of hotels are located. Continue toward the historical center of the city to see El Panecillo, San Francisco and La Basilica churches, and Plaza de la Independencia. Walking through the colonial streets, you’ll come across the cathedral, the Government’s Palace, and La Compañía Church. Next, head to the village of the Middle of the World to see the monument dividing the two hemispheres. Day 4: Riobamba (Meals: B) Depart from Quito on the 'Avenue of the Volcanoes,' admiring the beautiful Andean landscape as you travel. Stop off briefly at Cotopaxi National Park before arriving in Riobamba, where you will stay overnight in a hacienda typical to the region. Day 5: Alausí & Quito (Meals: B) Head to Alausí and enjoy a train ride toward the famous 'Devil’s Nose.' After returning to Alausí, make your way back to Quito. Day 6: Departure (Meals: B) Your tour ends, and you will be transported back to the airport if you are leaving Ecuador.Includes
