Description
Quilotoa Volcano is a small 3 km wide caldera about 80 km southwest of Quito. It is in the westernmost of Ecuador's Andean volcanoes. The caldera is the truncated remnant of a dacitic stratovolcano. It has steep inner walls which rise 400 m above the surface of a 240 m deep lake. It is a 3-hour drive from your hotel to the lake. On route, you will have the opportunity to take photos of volcanoes along the way. If the tour is on a Thursday, you will stop at the Saquisili market to see their local produce. On arrival at Quilotoa Volcano, you will take a 30-minute walk to the lake. The return trip will take approximately 1 hour so it is recommended to rent a horse. There are some restaurants where you can try typical Ecuadorian food. Return to Quito and if you like, you can bike down a steep road, which is a really good experience.Includes
