Zazú
Ecuador
Zazú is a high-end restaurant that's sure to whet your appetite. It is spacious, stylish and has a delightfully cosy ambience. It is often frequented by high society, including people in the oil business and diplomats.
The cuisine served here is a contemporary interpretation of Peruvian, providing a great contrast to the authentic Ecuadorian surrounds. The service is renowned for being very pleasant and highly attentive; it is not uncommon for diners to experience a table-side visit from the head chef himself.
Top dishes on Zazú's menu include appetisers of carefully sliced octopus served with an exquisite olive dip and crispy mushroom and artichokes wrapped in wonton. Popular main courses include succulent lamb chops from New Zealand, and the seafood is also to die for. The accompanying wine list is impressive and there is a good variety, with bottles ranging from $16 to $400.
Because of the large bar area - which has lounge chairs - the number of dining tables is somewhat limited, so be sure to reserve a place in advance, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
