Description

This historic route was built by the Incas and is one of the most important tourist attractions in South America. We will travel the best preserved section of the Inca Trail in Ecuador. In just 8 km, in 3 hours of trekking, enjoy history, culture and nature until you reach the most important Archaeological Complex in the country: Ingapirca where on a magical tour you will learn about the Cañari and Inca culture and then stay at the Community Tourist Center of Sisid Anejo and share with his people delicious gastronomy and ancient culture. The Tour begins in the beautiful city of Cuenca, from there we go to the Culebrillas lagoon within the Sangay National Park, considered a mythical and sacred place, since according to ancestral history the “leoquina”, the progenitor snake of the Cañarí ethnic group, lives there. . The Cañaris and Incas made their way there and now you can travel through landscapes flanked by beautiful mountains surrounded by Andean grasslands, andesite stone and a diversity of colorful flowers. You will be able to admire the native fauna such as black, brown, gray alpacas, with falcons, curiquinges, among other species. Continuing the tour you will visit Inca ruins in the middle of nowhere such as Paredones, a dairy farm on the Inca Trail, Qhapaq Ñan, traveled by the Incas during their rule in Latin America. There is also the Yanaurku hill, a mountain with statuary columns sculpted by the Cañaris; the Labrashkarrumi, and a polished stone workshop linked to Inca architecture. There are also the foundations of the Cañari shrine, a stand of carved stones that descends to the depth of its waters for ceremonial purposes. These destinations offer stunning landscapes and opportunities to immerse yourself in nature and local culture. In the middle of the afternoon you will walk to the Ingapirca Archaeological Complex, the most important archaeological site in Ecuador that presents a combination of Inca and Cañari architecture. Limestone and diorite stone were used to build the structures, and highlights the famous 'Temple of the Sun', which displays Inca architectural skill. Visiting Ingapirca allows you to immerse yourself in the rich history of the region and appreciate the cultural influence of both the Incas and the Cañaris. The preservation of the structures and the beauty of the environment make Ingapirca a fascinating stop for lovers of history and archeology. As the afternoon falls you can relax while enjoying a pale dinner and cultural night in Sisid Anejo, an ancient Cañari community that has been prepared to receive and exchange their experiences and culture. The next day we will visit the town, which includes its old church from more than 400 years ago. We will return to Cuenca around noon
